I am a day late in posting. I have been a complete scatter brain lately. If it wasn't for my phone sending out reminders of appointments, I don't know what I would do. Working on multiple cakes and house projects simultaneously isn't helping either. We have been in our home for three years now and the projects just keep multiplying. Who decides that the trim needs to be repainted on the main floor with two kids running around? This girl right here. I had to take a day to devote to this next cake though. Part of this cake was tricky and I will not lie that I had a bit of a panic attack over it. I tend to get really excited over new techniques and then promptly have a meltdown because of my lack of confidence. I have never made a cake with two layers of fondant. I covered the cake in black fondant first, molded the side breathing pieces, and covered every thing in white. With a brand new X-acto knife and a number "1" cutter, I started peeling pieces off to create the look.
Everyone seems really happy with the cake. I can't wait to see how the birthday boys feel about it!!
