This past week started off great. A box full of food coloring was dropped off at my front door. I have been using Americolor food coloring for quite a while. I started off years ago by buying 2 students kits from Amazon with 12 colors each. Some were duplicates, but I received a good range of colors. That was until I came across this set online. It has been sitting in my wishlist for months and months now and I finally ordered it. I'm pretty sure I jumped when the delivery man rang the doorbell. If you have never used Americolor before, please try them. It can be a little on the expensive side but they last forever. I have only had to restock the very basics over the years like black, brown, and ivory. The color is super rich and it only takes the smallest drop to get your results. Now on to the cake! This week I got the privilege to make a smash cake and cupcakes for a neighbor's son turning one. His nickname is "Moose" and I got to have a little fun. My favorite part was actually the trees. I have tried and failed for years to make trees using the ole cuticle nail scissors method. The trees never quite looked right. But I scoured Pinterest and found a different technique. And I am sold. How easy is that??

Hello everyone!
If you have found me through my Blogger site, welcome! I am very glad you found me here! I thought long and hard about creating another site and finally decided to just do it. One reason for the new site is I was somewhat limited on the free hosting site I used for years. Now I have more options for my gallery of pictures and I have my very own domain to boot! Second, The Baking Pixie is gaining a little steam and my focus has shifted to cakes and catering types of events. I felt that if my focus was changing, my website needed to reflect that change as well. I will still post recipes here and there but my main focus will be on cakes, decorations, and inspiration. Thank you for joining in on the adventure with me! |
