Don't you just love when your phone has a mind of it's own?? I am still laughing at the message I got from a neighbor the other week. I have made quite a few cakes for this family and have come across some crazy ideas while trying to decide what to do decoration-wise. But when I got a message asking for "A Scottish gold car sitting at an office desk wearing glasses and a plaid dress shirt A fish bowl with a fish in it on desk Around the sides, socks," I was a little floored. What she really meant was a fold cat. You know. One of these cutie patootie little guys. Not a hot wheels toy playing the bag pipes. After some back and forth, and some giggling, we were set on the details for her cake. Her favorite supervisor was leaving work and she wanted to say "thank you" with a cake to celebrate him and his crazy cat stories. And here is what we came up with. Much cuter than a gold car.

No. Seriously y'all. It feels like it should be snowing today. My December has been rather slow for cakes which is fine with me. I have already prepared 75 small cookie bags for the teachers at my son's school and I have 35 care packages to make next week. I am okay with slow right now. This cake request came in last week. A neighbor's coworker wanted a simple Game of Thrones cake for her husband. She found an inspiration picture (below) online through Pinterest. But she didn't want the banner. Simple and stuck to a small budget. Here is my version. I went a little brighter on the dire wolf. I substituted out the mottled texture and went with flecks of white for...well if you are fan and haven't guessed "snow" by now then I am revoking your GOT fan card. The original cake didn't have a border so I thought I would have a little fun and make some weirwood branches with pops of the red leaves. I just hope my neighbor's coworker's husband likes it. It feels like I am playing "Six degrees to Kevin Bacon" here.
