This week I got to work with fresh flowers on a cake.  I love fresh flowers in vases around the house.  I just had a "make your own bouquet" table at our neighborhood block party.  But I have always been iffy about fresh flowers on cake.  Sure...they are beautiful.  But...still iffy.  Whatever my personal opinion is, I think this cake for a 65th birthday party came out pretty great.  How do you feel about fresh flowers on desserts??

This month I got to work on a Darth Maul cake.  I have some experience with Darth Maul. A old boyfriend I had in college dressed as the Sith lord for Halloween one year.  He had a swimmer's cap with fake horns, crazy contact lenses, and a face full of paint courtesy of my painting skills.

Mr. Birthday Boy Beckett here also has a BB8 cake seen in my gallery.  Time will tell which side of the force he chooses.

I also got a request for a cosmic galaxy unicorn cake.  That is definitely a head-scratcher but the mom was super amazing and sent along the birthday party invitation she created. Stars, planets, and rainbow hair make for an epic birthday cake if I do say so myself.
