Sometimes Plan A just wasn't meant to be. Sometimes Plan B is too rushed after dealing with the heart ache of the first failed plan. And sometimes Plan C, completed after the kids go to bed and a glass of Pinot is consumed, just makes perfect sense for the cake. So Plan A on this baby shower cake was to make an umbrella to go over the elephants and I didn't like it. Plan B was to make the top tier look like the ruffled petals you see everywhere on cakes nowadays. I hated both of those plans and decided to try something I have never done before. Three different size petal cutters, some pink sugar pearls, and my trusty tweezers and I fell in love with the cake again. I will give props to the Pinot on this one!

I was so excited this past weekend. I finally got a reason to make a geode cake!!!! I have been seeing them every where on Pinterest and they are stunning. STUNNING!
I have started volunteering at my son's elementary school and hooked up with the Staff Appreciation PTA group. They asked if I could make something sweet for Custodian Appreciation Day (technically yesterday but celebrated today) for the main custodian of the school. Miss Rose collects rocks and I couldn't think of anything more appropriate! |
