Sometimes a cake idea strikes while I am washing my hair. Sometimes a cake idea strikes at 1:30 in the morning while I am contemplating how to smother my snoring husband. And sometimes I just have to look to the almighty Pinterest for an idea. My cousin asked for a cake for his mom who had some major milestones recently. His parents just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and she turned 60 not long ago. I knew I needed to do something "pretty" for her and that is where I was stuck. I searched through my pins and found this cake. My version didn't need to be SO grand. But...we are all happy with the end result. Even if my pink flower needed more petals :)

April was insane!! Cake orders, Spring Break, beach trip, Easter and egg hunts, a STEAM festival.... First up, a baby shower cake with an adorable topper for a little girl named Peyton. I ordered the topper from Karolinka Kreations on Etsy. Simple white fondant on top and pale pink rosettes on bottom. That delivery was a pit stop on the way to the beach! I got to spend a few days in the sun and sand with my family and parents. Britt's donuts, 100 SPF, and collecting sea shells at night was definitely what I needed. I have never been a HUGE fan of the ocean. Freckles and sunshine are not friends. But this... This was everything I needed. After a few days of sand in places I shall not mention, it was time to get back to business. And that business was organizing the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt and a STEAM fair at the elementary school. Cakes are slowly picking back up though with some Doc McStuffin cupcake toppers and a 30th margarita-filled birthday party. Triangle Custom Creations did another outstanding job on a topper I sketched up. So let's bring it on, May!!
