These past two weeks have been insane with kitchen projects (we are almost done!!!), both kids starting school, and cakes. LOTS of cakes. This first cake was for a gender reveal party. She had other ideas on how to reveal if they were having a boy or girl but she wanted cake to celebrate. The theme for the party was "Boats of Bows". She combined a few different ideas from cakes she liked and came up with this. I think it turned out great. P.S. I am still trying to figure out the new lighting in the kitchen. I'm afraid I will have to bring out my light box and extra lamps soon. The next cake I made was for my neighbor. They are the sweetest couple who buy Christmas gifts for the kids and have extra big treats just for them when they come trick or treating. Their son got married last Friday and they asked if I could make a grooms/rehearsal dinner cake. He is a HUGE fan of the New York Giants and both him and his fiance attended East Carolina University. I will be honest and admit that I wasn't sure if this one was going to come out right. But it ended up being my favorite. Well, second favorite. Another cake I completed for the week was for a bride living in the Charlotte area. She has an AMAZING job for Disney travel and goes around the state training travel agents and agencies on any and all things Disney. This project is one of those moments that makes you think about how tiny our world really is. I have known the bride's youngest sister since I was in middle school. We always joke about how much we hated each other growing up. Art and boys were a HUGE dividing factor for us. But now, we have actually come together to help a small business and continue to message each other all the time even though we live states away. ALSO...my neighbor behind me works for a Disney travel agency. Her boss is my bride. See. Small world. AND to round out the week, I had one more cake. My favorite. Even it means that my son is growing up way too quick. My oldest actually asked me for a cake consultation so we could discuss colors and flavors. I am not joking here. He brought a sketchbook, his favorite color crayon, and his Transformers comic book. I knew I was in trouble.
Here is his "Optimus Prime with a purple gun fighting a Decepticon with flames and blasts chocolate with chocolate frosting with extra chocolate cake"
